RE: Problem Running off 110v Power At Home (Roo 233)

Converter or no converter, we can't plug ours in at home if the A/C is running in the HTT. It also trips if the fridge, micro & some other bigger (like a vacuum brought in), or several smaller things are running at the same time in the HTT. Otherwise, we have ours plugged in for days, even weeks at a time at home w/o any problems. It gets hot in there this time of year w/o the A/C, but that's the only way the electricity will stay on consistantly. Edited to say -- After you edited to say house breaker did NOT trip, i'm clueless; sorry.

RE: Did something on RV.Net change or my error?

Its flashing on me, opens, closes, etc, big box, couple lines... TimH Yes, and quite annoying 'cuz it flashes so i can't read the teaser. Ah, well, this too shall pass. i have every confidence in those that fix for these. -- thanx, by the way!!

RE: What can you NOT make?

A plain ol' cake. i do German Chocolate, cheesecakes of all kinds, killer carrot cake, bundt cake, Jewish Apple Cake (our favorite!!), etc., but i can't make a basic, plain ol' cake that is worth a darn.

RE: Mackinaw City for the first time...tips?

DO the island tour!! A very unique experience, and kids will enjoy it too. Don't miss it. i second that. Of all our vacations & camping, one of the days the kids enjoyed most was the day we rode our bikes around the Island. DS still talks about the mini-golf he got to play there -- it was all greens. Unique & NICE.

RE: Forum on eating out?

i think it's a great idea. Referencing by town & state is a good idea, too.

RE: ok, so when it comes to getting your unit serviced ...

JALLEN4 -- Thanks for the honest editorial. Wise words. i hadn't even thought about a couple of the points you mentioned. However, i was amazed to find there aren't armed guards watching 24/7, as i had expected :B :B peace & joy to you.

RE: ok, so when it comes to getting your unit serviced ...

Don't be so paranoid. I'd worry more about someone stealing gas or the electric cable for copper. i'm not at all paranoid. i didn't say i thought we needed to -- i was asking IF we need to. i was curious & wanted to make sure i'm not missing something. It just occured to me that it would be pretty easy for tools or the Leatherman or whatnot to disappear, & we wouldn't know until we needed it later. but we've never had a problem before, at this or any of the other dealers in our local area. Thanks, that's what i was hoping to hear.

RE: What to do at night Camping??

We're like Terryallan & mpfireman. Games, talking, non-board games like "i'm going camping & i'm going to take...", stuff like that are great time passers. We also read chapter books out loud as a family. Kids have always loved that.

RE: how many would buy a HTT with or without slide?

No slide, no interest in one. We don't spend that much time inside.

ok, so when it comes to getting your unit serviced ...

do you unload things you have stored in it? We need to take our HTT in this week for at least a day. i don't want anything that we store in it (tools, cooking stuff, hoses, lanterns, bedding, etc.) to "walk off" while it's at the dealer... But, i also don't really have the time or energy to unpack & then re-pack it all. Thanks in advance for your advice.

RE: Anyone stay at Hickory Hollow CG Utica Il.

Thinking of using this as a base camp the end of July for a trip out to Moline. i don't know much about that CG, but i do know that Utica's a pretty good ride from Moline. There are other, nicer cgs closer to Moline, but if you're looking for somewhere from which you can go to Rockford, Bloomington, Moline & Chicago, Utica is a good choice for base camp. Also any tips while in Moline? Go to Whitey's. http://www.whiteysicecream.com/locations.asp They're all over quad city area. You know DQ Blizzards? -- Whitey's was making blizzards LONG before DQ & they're WAY better. Also have great frozen yogurt & lots of flavors of home-made, hand-dipped ice cream. There's also a great tavern/sandwich place that has great raisin-reuben sandwiches. Sound weird, but wonderfully delicious. It's called Belgian Village Inn 560 17th Ave, Olde Towne, Moline, IL 61265 ยท 309-764-9222. A quote from roadfood.com "They specialize in a quirky Reuben sandwich that is FANTASTIC!" i gotta go -- i'm starting to drool.:p

RE: squirrels damaged cover

Wild Birds Unlimited & some nurseries sell a squirrel repellant sprays. Like what jlfiber talked about, but you don't have to mix it up yourself. i've never tried the stuff for squirrels, but have tried the stuff for deer & it worked.

RE: What to add to rice

We cook it with beef or chicken broth vice water. It then has that flavor all through the rice. i often do this -- i also replace some of the water with orange juice.
